Horsemanship Course: Level 1

Horsemanship Course Dublin

The Horsemanship course is offered at four levels to increase your knowledge with regard to the care and management of the horse. Although primarily aimed at the weekly rider, first time horse owner, parents of horse owners or potential owners, Horsemanship courses are available to anyone interested in the care and welfare of horses.

Objectives:

This course has been designed to further your understanding of horses, their welfare and behaviour. The course also provides you with the basic skills and a good foundation for those seeking a successful equestrian career. This course aims to provide you with the knowledge necessary to own and care for a horse or pony.

This is an 8 week part time course taking place at Coolmine Equestrian centre on Tuesday evenings:

Optional Extra : BHS Horse Ownership Qualification and Exam

Horses in Art Course

Explore the History of the Horse through Art. Find Inspiration through the works of George Stubbs, Franz Marc & Jack B Yeats. Life Studies using actual Horses. Study the Horse in Motion. Create your very own Work of Art and display in the fun end of course Art Exhibition!

No previous experience or artistic skills necessary to enjoy this course! All Welcome 

Sunday 31st January, 1st, 8th & 15th February. 1.30pm – 3.30pm. €80 for 4 Weeks. BYO materials weeks 2-4.

 

Confidence Workshops

It is all too easy for nerves to spoil our riding pleasure and the relationship with our horse. Lack of confidence can turn our dreams, such as galloping across the fields or jumping over fences, into seemingly un-scalable cliffs. But there are plenty of little steps we can take to build confidence on and around horses.

Success in the saddle often starts in the mind – if you think positive and believe in yourself, a better relationship with your horse will follow. To help you become the confident, fantastic rider you know you can be, enrol into one of our fun friendly workshops.

These workshops can give you the tools to combat nerves, helping you turn the butterflies in your stomach into the positive energy to help you achieve your dreams.

• Using nerves to Achieve your Goals
• Learn to recognise the triggers
• How you can inspire trust and confidence in your horse
• Breathing Exercises to help you stay relaxed and confident

 


Yoga & Holistic Courses

EquestrianPilates

In contrast with other rider fitness programmes yoga practice is holistic, therefore develops both body and mind. Yoga increases body awareness, a key element in riding, because even if you are not aware of your body, the horse you are riding most certainly is!

Improving your horse riding and horsemanship with body aware self-development techniques is increasingly popular. As your body awareness increases, so does your ability to communicate more effectively and effortlessly with your horse.

In these classes, you will develop concentration techniques and learn simple exercises to improve body awareness and physical fitness for riding. Yoga sessions will focus on gently stretching and strengthening your body while practising mindful breathing and meditation techniques to strengthen your mind.
